The IEA’s Strategic Initiative Office is seeking interns to assist with ongoing research and
analysis of energy policy of IEA member, association and accession countries in all sectors
and technologies (energy-related climate policy, energy efficiency, renewables, electricity
systems and markets, fossil fuels, nuclear and critical minerals). The work informs the
preparation of the Energy Policy Reviews publication series, whose focus is on providing
recommendations on energy policy to countries. The Strategic Initiative Office oversees key
strategic initiatives, such as the IEA's Clean Energy Transitions Programme, national Energy
Policy Reviews, and the Agency's multilateral sherpa function.
The interns will support the team through qualitative and quantitative research and analysis
across all energy sectors and technologies. Examples of project activity include energy data
analysis and visualisation; drafting briefings and descriptions of energy policies and data;
tracking and analysis of new energy policies of IEA member, association and accession
countries.
The internships are office-based in Paris, France.

• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Current Masters or PhD student in relevant disciplines such as environmental,
energy or public policy, energy economics, environmental engineering/sciences, electrical/power system engineering or other disciplines where knowledge and skills can be applied to this field.
• Please note interns must be enrolled in a Masters or PhD programme during the
full duration of the internship.
• Proven research skills and analytical abilities, including data analysis and
management, demonstrated in past work (analytical reports, university assignments
and/or published papers).
